Terms & Conditions for Private Event Reservations

The wax-and-wicks or a.k.a. the nitty gritty stuff

Congratulations, you are reserving a private event. Please find below full disclosure of our TERMS and CONDITIONS.
You will be required to accept these terms upon registration. We do our very best to be fair and our policies are designed for your safety and enjoyment, as well as those around you and of course, our creative team. Happy creating!

ONE Project Per Person:

Due to the nature of our studio and size limitations, each person in attendance must be registered to create their own project. Unfortunately, we do not allow sharing of projects.

The Nature of Candle Making

Candle making is a skill that often takes years of experimentation, development, and practice to nearly perfect. This workshop is intended to be an interactive, social and fun introduction to candle making using soy wax, a natural product. As with any natural product, imperfections can occur. And in the case of using soy wax, imperfections are desirable and a sign of purity and not a soy/paraffin blend.

Our goal is to have you leave the workshop with candles in hand. Depending on humidity levels, ambient temperature and fragrance selected; candles can take 60 – 90+ minutes to set before they can be moved.  During this time, you are free to socialize, mingle, walk around downtown McKinney, create your label and have fun with a brief metal stamping project that adds a personal and purposeful touch to your candle.

There are occasions when your candles may not be ready for the journey home. In this case, we will hold your candle for ONE WEEK and will include pick up instructions at the end of the workshop.

Length of Workshop:

Our workshops are scheduled for two hours and we ask everyone to arrive 15 minutes early.  The first 30 – 45 minutes is the “creative” portion of the workshop with the last 90 minutes being the “social” part of the experience.  It is important to know that due to humidity levels, ambient temperatures, certain fragrances used and actual start time, candles take 90+ minutes to set once they are poured.  While waiting for candles to solidify, this downtime is ideal for relaxing, socializing, enjoying a sip or two, mingling with new friends and old and of course, you are welcome to walk around downtown McKinney.

McKinney is chock-full of boutiques, eateries, wineries & more.  If you need a recommendation, please ask a {CRUSH} Creatologist, we love playing tour-guide and we’ve got the downtown scoop! If your candle is not ready for the journey home at the end of the workshop or you wish to leave early, we will provide instructions for picking it up a later date.

Cancellation Policy:

We do not offer refunds at any time. If a registered guest is unable to attend this event; we will gladly issue a full credit (100%) on their account with more than 24 hours’ notice. A 50% credit will be applied to their account 1 – 24 hours’ notice. No shows will not receive any credit or refund.

IMPORTANT: CANDLE {CRUSH} STUDIO reserves the right to cancel a private event if the minimum amount of registrations is not met by the workshop deadline; which is seventy-two (72) hours before the workshop.

EXTRA IMPORTANT: Registered guests must notify CANDLE {CRUSH} STUDIO if they are unable to attend. Notifying the host/hostess only and not communicating directly with CANDLE {CRUSH} STUDIO does not qualify for a credit. Use this link to notify us if there is a need to cancel and reschedule; info@new.theboardbar.com. Credits can be applied to a future workshop with availability. Please contact the studio so that we can properly apply your credit and complete your registration when you decide to sign up for an alternate workshop.

We understand that life happens and sometimes unforeseen circumstances pop up. You are always welcome to send someone in your place – though we don’t get involved in the finances of this transaction. Collecting from your replacement will be your responsibility.

Arrival:

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time. This will give you time to find parking, your seat and get comfortable so that we can start the workshop on time.
Our workshops follow a tight, instructor-led schedule for your enjoyment and the safety of those around you. Additionally, soy wax typically needs at least 60 – 90+ minutes to rest and set after it is poured and this can change depending on temperatures and humidity. A timely start is the key to taking your candles home the same day!

We start promptly at the time stated at registration. Guests arriving up to 15 minutes late will join the group at whatever point the workshop has progressed to and will be asked to make a quick scent selection. Guests arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be allowed to work on their project and will forfeit their registration. As with any scheduled situation, if you are running late, it is best to notify our staff or a friend, so that we are prepared.

Alcohol:

You are permitted to bring your alcohol to our workshops and events. However, there are a few rules that you need to be aware of and that we take very seriously, per TABC and the City of McKinney:
 Minors Possessing or Consuming Alcohol – The punishment for making alcoholic beverages available to a minor is a class A misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $4,000, confinement in jail for up to a year, or both. Additionally, the violator will have his or her driver’s license automatically suspended for 180 days upon conviction.
 Persons 21 or older (other than the parent or guardian) can be held liable for damages caused by intoxication of a minor under 18 if the adult knowingly provided alcoholic beverages to a minor or knowingly allowed the minor to be served or provided alcoholic beverages on the premises owned or leased by the adult.
