What are the age requirements for your birthday parties?

We offer party packages for tweens and teens; kiddos ages 8 – 17.

What do your birthday parties include?

At The Board Bar, we take crafting, creating and celebrating to a whole new level! Our parties include everything but the sweet treats and drinks, so it’s virtually hassle free and easy to reserve for your group.  You’ll have staff on hand to guide guests step-by-step through the project, serve cake and clean up too.

Is there a minimum and/or maximum number of kids that is required?

Our birthday party packages are set up for up to 10 kids, which includes the guest(s) of honor.  Additional kids are welcome (additional charge per extra guest) with a maximum of 24 kids.

How much are your parties?

Our Birthday Party packages are $350 + tax for up to 10 makers.  Additional guests are $35 + tax and your deposit of $120 will be applied towards this balance.

How long are your parties?

Birthday parties are two hours.  We allow approximately 90 minutes for instruction and creativity and 30 minutes for cake and celebration.  Present opening is not a planned activity.  If there is time and present opening is important to you, we will make every effort to open presents before your time slot ends.

What if I have a unique design in mind, such as my daughter's favorite quote or a cheerleading theme?

We can work together to create a fantastic design for your group – just ask; (set-up fee in addition)!  Please make sure you have permission to use any logos or trademarked designs.

As the host/hostess, what are my responsibilities?

As the host/hostess, you are responsible for providing a list of personalization and design choices, if applicable, within 72 hours of your event.  If you are unable to obtain everyone’s name and/or there are some last minute changes, we will have some options available for the ones not accounted for – we wouldn’t want to leave anyone out!

What if I know I won’t be able to make the minimum number of attendees?

Our regular workshops are designed for adults (18 years and older).  However, we do offer family friendly workshops throughout the year, so be sure to check our calendar.

Better yet, perhaps you could invite a mom or two to create with you, we can seat you at a separate table! 🙂

Do I need to make a reservation for my group?

YES!  Due to the custom nature of our studio; stencils and lumber are cut and prepared to order.  We recommend setting up a party 2 – 4 weeks in advance as you will need time for your guests to register themselves.

When do you hold birthday parties?

At this time, we only offer birthday parties for tweens and teens during the morning and afternoon.  Evening time slots are reserved for adult private events. Click here for our calendar.

How can I reserve a birthday party

Reserve online by selecting a theme and then an available date from our birthday party listings.  Click here for more information on our themes.  Once you select a theme, it will bring you to the calendar page for availability.

What happens after I reserve a date and pay the deposit?

Once you reserve a date, we will contact you by email to set up your design choices.   Remember, we have several stain choices and over 30 paint colors to choose from, so there is quite a bit of room for guests to make their signs unique.

IMPORTANT: As the host/hostess, you are responsible for providing a list of personalization, if applicable, within 72 hours of your event.  If you are unable to obtain everyone’s name and/or there are some last minute changes, we will have some options available for the ones not accounted for – we wouldn’t want to leave anyone out!

Why do I need to leave a deposit?

A deposit of $120 is required to save a time slot and reserve the studio for your private event.  It is non-refundable and will be applied towards the balance.

Is the deposit refundable?

All birthday deposits are non-refundable. The deposit will be applied towards your final balance, which is due at the end of your party.

What happens if I have less than 10 kids, is there a discount?

No, the package price is the minimum charge and includes up to a total of 10 tweens/teens.

What if I need to reschedule?

If you need to reschedule your event, you may do so ONE time without penalty providing we have a minimum of ten (10) days in advance.  A date change with less than ten (10) days’ notice or multiple date changes will result in a loss of your deposit.   A new deposit may be required to secure a new date.

 

We understand unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather and illness and will review those on a case by case basis.  No shows will result in complete forfeiture of your deposit.  If you are unable to select a new date, your deposit will remain on account and can be used towards a like event in the future.

Can I change my project and/or customization once my reservation is complete?

Yes, providing you make changes 72 hours prior to your workshop.  Be sure to double check your spelling, dates and anything else that is unique to your sign at the time of registration.  Supplies, including a customized stencil and pre-cut lumber, are prepared three (3) days in advance.

You are welcome to make any changes prior to 72 hours at no additional cost.  Please send an email with your request to info@theboardbar.com.

If you need to make any changes 24 – 72 hours before the scheduled start of your workshop, a $15 stencil/administration fee will be charged and is due at the beginning of your workshop.  Unfortunately, we cannot make any changes with less than 24 hours’ notice.

What time should I arrive?

We strongly recommend you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time.  This will give you time to find parking, your seat, meet your tablemates, make any last minute seating accommodations and start pondering stain and paint colors.

What if a guest is running running late?

Our workshops follow a tight, instructor led schedule for your enjoyment and the safety of those around you.  We start promptly at the time stated at registration.  We suggest that you add wording such as “starts promptly…” to your invitation.

 

Guests arriving up to 15 minutes late will join the group at whatever point the workshop has progressed to and may not participate in all of the steps.   Guests arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be allowed to participate in sign making but are more than welcome to enjoy cake and drinks during the last 20 – 30 minutes.  We will do our best to include late comers, but cannot interrupt or delay the flow of the party in progress due to safety and time constraints.

What do I need to bring?

A sweet treat (cake, cupcakes) and a beverage for the guests.  We have a paper supplies, utensils and cups.

Can I bring food?

Of course!  We only have 20 – 30 minutes for celebration; so we suggest keeping it simple.

What should I wear?

No dress code here but we are a woodworking studio and you will be handling tools, stain, paint and wax.  While we provide aprons and gloves, some of our supplies are not washable so wearing your finest is probably not a great idea.

What tools and supplies will the tweens/teens use?

Our tween/teen workshops use water-based stain, latex paint and at times, wax. Once in awhile, our teen workshops may or may not involve woodworking tools such as hammers, mallets, awls, wire, sand paper, screws, power drills (with instructor assistance) and possibly other sharp objects which may result in injury.

Do I need to tell you in advance which stain and paint colors I want to use?

Nope, we will take care of that when you arrive.  Part of the fun is seeing our stain and paint choices in person.
