Our Studio

about

The Board Bar is a DIY studio located in the downtown historic district of McKinney, Texas. While this type of creative studio may be new to McKinney, I am certainly not the new kid on the block!

Let’s see…where shall I start?  I’ve owned Made of Sugar and Spice {girly girl themed parties} at 207 North Kentucky Street; which is now owned by the fabulous Annaliese Johnson. Next came Walls of Clay {a paint-your-own-pottery and glass fusing studio} located at 211 North Kentucky Street, which I still own and love! And now I find myself at 213 North Kentucky Street with The Board Bar, my latest adventure.

Hmmm…see a trend yet? Creativity… Entertainment…Fun…North Kentucky Street?!

I am all about crafty and creativity. I sometimes think glue, glitter, and glaze run through my veins, so why not add some grain to my life and work with wood? But being farmhouse-rustic-shabby-chic-over-the-top crafty isn’t always so easy to accomplish at home, this I know.  There’s a plethora of distractions, lots of supplies you didn’t know you needed, endless YouTube videos with how-to instructions and then…the big ole’ mess to clean up when you’re done.

[ENTER] The Board Bar…we have it all in one creative space! Sure you can create at home, but will you have as much creative fun as being in a studio with others while you BYOB (build your own board) and we take care of everything else?

Think laughter! Think happiness! Think tools!  Think oodles of color choices to customize to your liking!  Think success! Oh, and did I mention that we clean up the mess?

Whether you are joining us during an open workshop or a private event, our team will lead you through the creative journey from raw lumber to hand-crafted, stunning home decor. We are a BYOB art studio.  This means you are welcome to bring your own beverage while you build your own board art at The Board Bar.
